For those of us with hypertension, it is very important to take blood pressure readings frequently in order to achieve maximum health. A good blood pressure monitor is the key to ensuring accurate results in your fight with high blood pressure.
Speaking for myself, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure about ten months ago with average readings of 150/95. My doctor suggested that I take daily blood pressure readings at the local pharmacy and report back with the average of these readings after 10 days.
I found going to the supermarket daily to be highly inconvenient. At that point, I figured it was worth my money to invest in an at-home blood pressure monitor, based on pure convenience alone. After researching online, just as you are, I settled on the Omron HEM-650 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor. I must say I am pleased with my purchase and recommend it to my family and friends frequently.
Key features of this blood pressure monitor are accurate and consistent readings, and its ability to store those readings for a period covering 90 days. This feature allows patients to deliver their monitor to their physician so that previous weeks readings can be compared and analyzed.
The Omron HEM-650 is an ideal monitor for seniors because of its large display and its ability to be used on either wrist. Additionally, this model does not require one to roll up their sleeves or undress, providing quicker and more hassle-free readings. Its small size also allows for packing away in a suitcase, a downside with larger arm monitors.
This monitor is not without its downsides, however. It has been noted that readings can sometimes be difficult to obtain because of improper arm positioning. I have found that with a little practice, finding the correct position can be mastered quickly. The monitor itself also does its best to help you in positioning by beeping when your hand is in the correct place. The manufactures refer to this feature as the Advanced Positioning Sensor. Simply place the wrist with the monitor across your chest, near your heart, to find the correct position and the monitor will begin its reading.
Although this monitor does store daily readings for extended period, it does not have the functionality to store data for two different users. If all users' readings are different enough however, you can easily tell them apart from each other when scrolling through previous days readings.
It is clear that the benefits far outweigh the negatives of the Omron Hem-650. At first, the retail price of the monitor may seem a little high, but with something as important as a blood pressure monitor you do not want to buy a cheap unit. Because as we know cheap usually equates to low quality. I would highly encourage those on the fence about buying an at home monitor to consider this unit which stands up to Omron's legacy of quality health-care products.
